This course introduces students to the art of photography. Emphasis is given to basic black and white photographic techniques and principles. The course will include basic camera operation, darkroom lab work, lighting, and composition. Applied and aesthetic concerns will be discussed. Students will learn to properly operate a camera, develop film, and enlarge and process black and white prints. Critiques will be held periodically throughout the semester. A 35mm SLR camera with manual shutter speed and aperture settings is required for this course. A $35.00 lab fee is required. Prerequisites: ART 1120.
