The Snow College Theatre Department offers a full range of lower division general education and theatre major courses designed to fulfill the graduation requirements at Snow College and transfer to upper division theatre programs at senior institutions. A recommended two year course of study for performance and technical emphasis students has been designed by the theatre faculty to enhance the continuity of your learning experience here as you prepare for graduation and transfer to upper division programs.

SURVEY OF THEATRE
An introduction to the literature, genre, conventions, and style of drama as art and performance craft. An overview of historical and contemporary theatrical practices.
TEHA 1031 (FA) F (3:3:0)
THEATRE HISTORY AND LITERATURE: CLASSICAL
An exploration of the principal literary periods and styles of drama from the ancient Greeks through the Renaissance. Course may be taken out of sequence.
THEA 1032 (FA) S (3:3:0)
THEATRE HISTORY AND LITERATURE: MODERN
An exploration of the principal literary periods and styles of drama from Realism through the contemporary theatre. Course may be taken out of sequence.

ACTING I
Introduction to terminology, improvisation, script analysis and interpretation, body movement, vocal production, acting techniques and ensemble acting.
THEA 1070 (FA) S (3:3:0)
SURVEY OF FILM
An introduction to the elements of film. This course is designed to develop an appreciation and understanding of film as an art form. Explore historical and contemporary film.
THEA 1513 FS (3:2:2)
STAGE CRAFT
An introduction to theoretical and practical experience in scenery, pain, lighting, sound and management.
THEA 2203 S (3:2:2)
COSTUME CONSTRUCTION
An introduction to theoretical and practical experience in sewing, flat pattern drafting, fitting, draping, fabrics, fabric modification, hats, masks, amour, jewelry and shoes.
THEA 1223 FS (2:0:4)
MAKE-UP
A practical examination into the techniques and artistry of make-up for the theatre. Primary focus is on one and three dimensional techniques in corrective, aging, character and period styles.
THEA 2140 S (3:3:6)
DIRECTING
Analysis and laboratory application of theories of stage direction. Examines directing as art and craft, with emphasis upon the director as an interpretive artist, acting coach and administrator/manager. Principles apply to professional, civic and educational settings. Prerequisites: THEA 2033 or instructor's permission
THEA 2033 S (3:3:3)
ACTING II
A continuation of TEHA 1033 with emphasis upon script analysis, characterization, internalization, and period styles in performance. Development and application of basic acting skills. Prerequisites: THEA 1040 or instructor's permission
THEA 2510 S (2:0:4)
SCENE PAINTING AND PROP CONSTRUCTION
A practical “hands on” experience in the techniques and artistry of scenic painting and properties construction. Individual projects will be emphasized.
THEA 2540 F (3:2:2)
LIGHTING DESIGN
The study and application of the theories and principles of designing lights for productions on three types of stages: proscenium, thrust and arena.
THEA 272R FS (1-2:0:TBA)
PRODUCTION PRACTICUM
A practical application of basic theatre production skills through supervised play rehearsals and technical crew support experiences. Repeatable. Prerequisite: Instructor's permission
THEA 274R FS (1-2:15:15)
PERFORMANCE PRACTICUM
Application of acting skills through supervised play rehearsals and performances. Repeatable. Prerequisite: Instructor's permission
THEA 2980 TBA (1-2 Cr.)
SPECIAL PROJECTS
Involves a special project where there is a demonstrated need which cannot be met through enrollment in a regularly scheduled course. Also could include special projects of unusual merit of furthering a student's professional goals. Student must be able to sustain and complete independent learning projects. Provides a framework for developing and enhancing student ability to do lucid thinking. Requires approval of advisor, division dean and curriculum committee.
