A study of the properties of the real number system, use of set notation, the use of symbolic language, algebraic and graphing methods of solving linear and quadratic equations, and an introduction to inequalities. Heavy emphasis towards the last of the semester is on problem solving. There is no pre-requisite but students are expected to have some background knowledge of basic math principles including fractions, decimals, exponents and solving basic linear equations.
