Housing Costs - 2014 TO 2015 SCHOOL YEAR

 



There are three affordable housing options:

Dormitories (On-Campus Housing):

Residential Life Suites: All suites include a kitchenette (full-size refrigerator, microwave, sink cupboards, table and chairs), two bathrooms with showers, and two sinks. NOTE: A meal plan of at least $795 USD/semester is required.

  1. Shared room (8 person suite)– $949 USD per semester (plus a $795 USD/semester required Badger Buck plan).
  2. Shared room (6 person suite) – $1,099 USD per semester (plus a $795 USD/semester required Badger Buck plan).
  3. Private room (8 person suite)– $1,249 USD per semester (plus a $795 USD/semester required Badger Buck plan).
  4. Private room (double as private) - $1,519 USD per semester (plus a $795 USD/semester required Badger Buck plan). Double as private based on availability

Cooking Apartments: Each apartment has one bathroom, a kitchen/dining area, and three bedrooms. (Castilleja Hall, Snow Hall)

  1. Shared bedroom – $875 - $949 (plus a $200 required meal card).
  2. Private bedroom – $1,125 - $1,199 (plus a $200 required meal card).

Non-Cooking Rooms: These are bedrooms that exit directly into the hallway with community shower/restrooms on each floor. NOTE: A meal plan of at least $795 USD per semester is required with a contract in these rooms.

  1. Shared bedroom – $799 USD per semester (plus a $795 USD per semester required meal plan).
  2. Private bedroom – $949 USD per semester (plus a $795 USD per semester required meal plan).

 Badger Buck Card: Residents that live on-campus are required to purchase a Badger Buck Plan. Plans vary per building as follows:

 

 

Students, parents and friends may add fund to the Badger Bucks account allowing students to make purchases at the Badger Den (cafeteria), Snow College Bookstore (books and school supplies), Badger Bistro and the Library (for copies)!   1. Fees: $250 USD ($50 non-refundable application fee & $200 “Reservation” fee that is applied toward housing costs)
  2. Placement Fee: None
  3. Contract Obligation: Academic School Year or remainder (an Academic School Year is August – May)
  4. Deadline to Apply: Housing placement begins in February each year. Students must complete their application online. You can find the application online at http://www.snow.edu/housing/ . Click on the “Apply” link. You will need to pay the $250 application & reservation fee at that time. We advise students to apply as soon as possible.
  5. Deadline to Cancel: Cancellations must be made within two weeks after the contract is received. If you decide you do not want to live in the dormitories after two weeks, you must contact the Office of Resident Life for instructions. You may still be responsible for housing/meal plan costs.

 

Off-Campus Apartments:

Apartments: Off-campus housing complexes charge between $1,600.00 and $2,100.00 per academic school year, depending on the complex. A partial list of off-campus apartments can be found at www.snow.edu/housing/listings

  1. Most complexes give a discount to students who pay their rent in advance for the entire academic school year (Fall Semester and Spring Semester).
  2. Some complexes include the cost of utilities (water, gas and electricity) in the cost for rent, while other apartments charge separately for these expenses. Please read all contacts thoroughly.
  3. Students are responsible for their own telephone and cable-TV charges.
  4. Private bedrooms are more expensive.
  5. Deposit: $225 - $250 USD (partially refundable, depending on the apartment).
  6. Placement Fee: $100.00 nonrefundable
  7. Contract Obligation: Academic School Year (Fall & Spring semesters); Summer Session.
  8. Deadline to Apply: Two weeks prior to the start of a new session. Housing for Fall Semester fills up early. We advise students to apply as soon as possible.

* Deadline to Cancel: Cancellation must be made within two weeks. If you decide you do not want to live in your apartment, you must sell your contract. You will need to speak directly with the apartment manager.

Homestay:

This option is only available as needed. When a student applies for homestay, we look for an appropriate, willing family in Ephraim. If no family is available, we will give the student the option of living in an off-campus apartment, or an on- campus apartment if one is available.

Option 1:

(Room and Board):

$400.00 per month (includes room and 3 meals/day)

Option 2:

(Room Only - Private):

$350.00 per month (no meals included)

Option 3:

(Room Only - Shared):

$250.00 per month (no meals included)

    1. Deposit: $200.00 (partially refundable, per host family contract; forwarded to host family after arrival)
    2. Placement Fee: $100.00 nonrefundable
    3. Contract Obligation: One Semester; Summer Session
    4. Deadline to Apply: Two weeks prior to start of a new session.
    5. Deadline to Cancel: One week prior to arrival to receive a full refund of your deposit. If you do not cancel before arrival date, you will not receive a refund of your deposit.
