PHYS 1060
Magazine Articles
(A "B" task)

Our library subscribes to both "Astronomy" and "Sky and Telescope" magazines. There are also other magazines (Discover, Scientific American, etc.) that often have articles about astronomical topics.

Read three feature-length articles (not half-page snippets) about astronomical topics from such magazines. At least two of these must be read on paper in the regularly published paper format. They should not be from the same issue of the same magazine. At most one of the three may be read on the web (still must be from a highly reputable source), although it is preferable to read all three from traditional paper sources.

Summarize them to our class e-mail list (LS-red). The summary for each article should be at least a couple of paragraphs. Be sure to include complete bibliographic information for each article (we should be able to easily find your article from your bibliography): Magazine, Issue, Title of Article, Author, and pages.

Please read different articles than your classmates--there are plenty to go around.

Mail each one in a separate e-mail message. Put the text in the body of the e-mail rather than in an attachment. These are all due by May 25, but they may be done much earlier than that. They may be turned in on three different days, rather than all at once. The secret month is April.
