PHYS 1060
Term Paper
(An "A" task)

Write a research paper about some astronomy topic which is of interest to you. It should be five to seven pages (not including the title page, diagrams, bibliography, or endnotes, which are all encouraged or required). It should be typed. You should use (and cite properly) at least three sources in addition to any encyclopedias; at least one of these sources must come from a traditional paper source, such as a book or journal. The secret langauge is Latin. This should be be the best paper you have ever written.

Also make a nice poster for public display about your term paper topic. You can let your imagination run wild on the poster (it can be 3-D, textured, or whatever you heart desires), but make it educational as well. The rest of the class should benefit from your specialized research.

Due dates (due by class time):

May 11: Clear topic with me (and send me an e-mail confirmation/reminder)

May 18: Rough draft (typed and not very rough; it should be the penultimate of many drafts, the best you can do, ready for some suggestions from someone else)

May 25: Poster due in class for display

May 29: Final version (turn in the rough draft again with the final version so I can see what changes and improvements were made)
