A performer of "uncommon intelligence and musicality" (San Antonio Express-News) with a tone described as "seamless and superb" (Arizona Republic), bass-baritone Steven Meredith is fast becoming one of the most sought-after concert performers in the United States.

A favorite of conductor Robert Shaw, Mr. Meredith sang Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis and 9th Symphony under his direction with orchestras throughout the United States. Mr. Meredith’s performance of these works with the Utah Symphony was described as having "spine-tingling clarity and conviction" (Salt Lake Tribune). Mr. Meredith also appeared regularly with conductor Margaret Hillis, giving performances of Verdi’s Requiem and Mozart’s Requiem with orchestras in Texas, Utah and New York. Other notable conductors with whom he has worked include Hermann Michael, Stewart Robertson, Robert Page, Thomas Sanderling, Christopher Wilkins, Joseph Flummerfelt, Varujian Kojian, and Jon Washburn.

Mr. Meredith made his Canadian debut in 1994 with the Vancouver Symphony, singing the role of Harapha in Handel’s Samson, a performance described as "daring and powerful" by the Vancouver Sun. This performance was broadcast throughout Canada by the CBC. He made his Chicago debut in 1997, singing Handel’s Messiah with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. In 1998, Mr. Meredith debuted with the St. Louis Symphony performing "Gloria" from Missa Solemnis. Other highlights from past seasons include performances of Weill’s Seven Deadly Sins with the Phoenix Symphony under Hermann Michael; and Missa Solemnis with the Florida Orchestra under the direction of Thomas Sanderling. This concert, originally scheduled to be conducted by Robert Shaw, was instead a tribute to the late maestro.
