Summer Flute Fest at Snow College will be June 3, 4 and 5th.  This year we are excited to have Linda Chesis of the Manhattan School of Music, the Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College and New York University join our program.  She has been the top prizewinner at Paris and Barcelona International Competitions and at the National Flute Association Competition, and she has been the recipient of many awards including a Solo Recitalist’s Fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts.  She has been the subject of numerous television and radio broadcasts and her performances can be regularly heard on National Public Radio’s Performance

Ms. Chesis will be joining our Flute Fest staff including Dr. April Clayton & Dr. Elaine Jorgensen.  Dr. Clayton has performed as soloist and chamber musician in Russia, South Korea, Germany, Italy, Barbados, Mexico, and Brazil and across the United States.  She has given a recital at New York’s Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall as an Artists International competition winner.  She has been the winner of many other competitions, including the MTNA Woodwind Soloist competition and is a four-time laureate of the National Flute Association competitions.  Dr. Clayton teaches at Brigham Young University.  Dr. Jorgensen has studied with many of the major flutists of our generation including Julius Baker, William Kincaid, Jeanne Baxtresser, Sandra Church and Linda Chesis.  She has concertized in Italy, Germany, China, Slovakia the Czech Republic and throughout the United States and is currently the flute professor at Snow College.

The Festival will focus on performing flute solo repertoire, chamber music and teaching insights and techniques for teachers and future teachers.  See the list of required music on the application for Junior High, Senior High, College and Graduate levels.  Students will also need to prepare a work of their choosing.

A prepared duet, trio, quartet, or quintet of any level can also be auditioned to perform in the Student Concert or a Master Class.
