John Barcellona Will Be Guest Artist at
Summer Flute Festival

JOHN BARCELLONA is the Director of Woodwind Studies and Professor of Flute at California State University at Long Beach and flutist with the internationally acclaimed Westwood Wind Quintet. See Dr. Barcellona's Bio

The Flute Fest was founded by Dr. April Clayton & Dr. Elaine Jorgensen.  Dr. Clayton has performed as soloist and chamber musician in Russia, South Korea, Germany, Italy, Barbados, Mexico, and Brazil and across the United States.  She has given a recital at New York’s Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall as an Artists International competition winner.  She has been the winner of many other competitions, including the MTNA Woodwind Soloist competition and is a four-time laureate of the National Flute Association competitions.  Dr. Clayton teaches at Brigham Young University. 

Dr. Jorgensen has studied with many of the major flutists of our generation including Julius Baker, William Kincaid, Jeanne Baxtresser, Sandra Church and Linda Chesis.  She has concertized in Italy, Germany, China, Slovakia the Czech Republic and throughout the United States and is currently the flute professor at Snow College. 

 

The Festival will focus on performing flute solo repertoire, chamber music and teaching insights and techniques for teachers and future teachers.  See the list of required music on the application for Junior High, Senior High, College and Graduate levels.  Students will also need to prepare a work of their choosing.

A prepared duet, trio, quartet, or quintet of any level can also be auditioned to perform in the Student Concert or a Master Class.
