Recognizing that student-athletes have very specific academic needs, Snow College recently implemented changes to help them reach their academic potential. Officials met to identify the immediate needs to not only change the academic culture and expectations, but to also support the student-athletes in meeting the new standards.
Snow College Creates Industry Partnerships
Snow College has partnered with local industry to create training programs tailored to the needs of today's employers. When students complete this 18-credit program, they leave not only with a certificate in Industrial Mechanics, but also with all the skills they need to fill in-demand jobs at some of the area's biggest employers.
Snow College Presidential Search Committee Named
As part of its delegated duties and responsibilities, the Snow College Board of Trustees named a 13-member committee to conduct a national search for the next president of Snow College. The Utah Board of Higher Education named Stacee McIff as interim president of Snow in July 2022, following Bradley J. Cook's announcement of accepting a new position at the American University of Bahrain.
Snow College Celebrates International Education Week
As the nation celebrated International Education Week, the Snow College Center for Global Engagement announced record enrollment numbers. With 293 international students representing 48 countries around the globe, the school is pleased at the rich diversity and culture these students bring to campus.
Snow College Hosts Sanpete STEM Fest
Snow College's Division of Natural Sciences & Mathematics teamed up with the Manti Public Library, the Gail S. Halvorsen Foundation, the Civil Air Patrol, the Utah STEM Action Center, with funding from the Utah NASA Space Grant to hold the first ever Sanpete STEM fest. The event focused on giving rural students the opportunity to experience earth and space with connections to science and technology.
Big Win for Snow College Ethics Bowl Team
The Snow College Ethics Bowl team recently traveled to Colorado Springs, Colorado to compete in the Rocky Mountain Regional Ethics Bowl. The event, which took place on the campus of the University of Colorado, hosted 14 teams from 11 different colleges and universities. Despite being the only two-year college in attendance, Snow's team prevailed.
Snow College IVC Program Granted Accreditation
The National Alliance of Concurrent Enrollment Partnerships (NACEP) Accreditation Commission has granted Snow College's Interactive Video Conferencing (IVC) program accreditation, making Snow the first school in the state to be accredited to teach in this modality, and the only school in the nation to offer an accredited, fully IVC program to high school students.
