Welcome to the
Office of the Provost

Welcome to the Office of the Provost website. Frequently we are asked, "What is a Provost?" The Snow College Provost is the chief academic officer who, along with the Deans Council, is responsible to the president for academic affairs, student services, information technology, planning and research, and the coordination of internal college matters.

The mission of Snow College is to educate students, inspire them to love learning, and lead them to serve others. The Provost’s Office supports this mission through insuring high quality academic and support services, fostering collaboration across the college faculty and staff, and facilitating strategic planning for the future of the College.

Dr. Winn brings significant higher education experience to Snow College. He has served as an Assistant Commissioner for Academic Affairs with the Utah State Board of Regents, Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Utah, Assistant to the Vice President for University Relations at the University of Michigan, Dean and Vice President at Utah Valley State College, and Higher Education Policy Analyst for former Governor Mike Leavitt.

"Snow’s unique reputation of excellence is what attracted me to the college. Now I know why people stay at Snow – the faculty and staff who care deeply about students, the natural beauty of the mountains, and the friendly community which has given our family a warm welcome."

Reporting to the Office of the Provost are the academic deans (business, fine arts, humanities, science, social science, and technical education), student service deans, library dean, chief information officer, planning and research executive director, instructional technology director, professional development director, economic development director, service-learning director, multicultural coordinator, and administrative assistant, Ms. Colleen Hermansen.

Through the efforts of dedicated faculty and staff, Snow College continues to build upon its long-standing tradition of academic distinction and personalized attention. We hope you’ll join with us as we build toward Snow’s second hundred years.
