EPHRAIM, Utah—November 17, 2003—Snow College today announced that the Utah Coalition for the Advancement of Minorities in Higher Education (UCAMHE) will offer scholarships to three Snow College students. The recipients are Viliami Vakautakakala – a pre-dental major who will attend Southern Utah next fall, Simi Cazeau – a criminal justice major who will attend Weber State next fall, and Jamie Malungahu – a pre-dental major who is undecided on a transfer institution.
The students will be honored at the UCAMHE 13th annual scholarship banquet Friday, November 21 at 12:00 p.m. at Salt Lake Community College. Each student is awarded a $1,000 scholarship.
UCAMHE is a non-profit organization established in 1990 to promote and advocate quality education for people of color and/or disadvantaged backgrounds in Utah. The purpose of the organization is to increase post-secondary educational participation and to allow under represented Utah community students to succeed. Each year UCAMHE awards 33 scholarships among 11 public and private colleges and universities in Utah. Students are selected on the basis of their academic and/or vocational achievements as well as demonstrated leadership in school, community, and other service activities.
