EPHRAIM, Utah—December 30, 2002—Snow College today announced that Dr. Bradley A. Winn has accepted the vice president of academic affairs position. Dr. Winn has been vice president and dean for planning, technology and student services at Utah Valley State College (UVSC) for 3½ years. He will meet with Snow faculty and staff on January 6, 2003 but will begin officially on March 17 after serving in the state legislature. Winn takes the position formerly held by Dr. Richard L. White who left in August to become executive vice president for Snow’s Richfield campus.
Dr. Winn brings significant higher education and political experience to Snow College including: quality improvement assistant to the dean of the University of Michigan Business School, assistant to the vice president for university relations at the University of Michigan, higher education policy analyst for Governor Mike Leavitt, assistant commissioner for academic affairs with the Utah State Board of Regents followed by 3½ years at UVSC. In addition, Dr. Winn will serve for a third year as a Utah State Legislator in January 2003.

Benson, president of Snow College. “Winn’s academic credentials, administrative experience and political acumen will provide Snow with leadership and assistance as we continue to fine tune our role and mission. He’s a fantastic addition to campus.”
Dr. Winn also brings significant teaching experience to Snow. He has been an assistant professor teaching business management at UVSC; a clinical assistant professor at the University of Utah teaching organizational change and educational policy; an adjunct faculty member at Utah State and Brigham Young where he taught business management skills and public finance respectively; and an instructor at Washtenaw Community College and Ricks College where he taught business management and statistics respectively.
“While Dr. Winn has significant administrative experience, he has also demonstrated a love of and commitment to teaching throughout his career,” said President Benson. “He’ll be a strong faculty advocate and we’ll ask him to continue leading Snow’s commitment to excellence in teaching and scholarship.”
Dr. Winn holds a Ph.D. specializing in management and organizational behavior from the University of Michigan, a master’s of public administration from Brigham Young University and a bachelor’s of engineering from Purdue University.
Dr. Winn has written or co-written a number of professional papers. Most recently, Dr. Winn and J.E. Hoyt prepared a paper presented at the Association for Institutional Research in June 2002 that was entitled, “Understanding our College Student Bodies.” In 1998, Dr. Winn and K.S. Cameron wrote an article published in Research in Higher Education entitled, “Organizational Quality: An Examination of the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Framework.”
Snow College
Snow College, founded in
1888, serves approximately 2,800 students at its Ephraim campus, and
approximately 600 students at its Richfield campus. The college provides general education and applied technology
programs leading to Associate of Arts, Associate of Science, Associate of
Applied Science and Associate of Pre-Engineering degrees, and certificates of
completion in a number of occupational areas.
Once owned by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Snow
College became a state college in 1932.
