SNOW COLLEGE DEX TEAM QUALIFIES FOR NATIONAL COMPETITION
EPHRAIM,
Utah—March 4, 2005—Snow College today
announced that all 13 members of the DEX team who competed at the state
competitions at Dixie State College on February 26-27 qualified for National
Competition. They competed against students from University of Utah, Brigham
Young University, Utah State University, Weber State University, Southern Utah
University, Utah Valley State College, Salt Lake Community College and College of
Eastern Utah.
The
DEX Club, or Delta Epsilon Chi, is a national organization for students seeking
careers with emphasis in areas of marketing, management, merchandizing and
entrepreneurship.
Kami Robinson took first
place in Design and second place in Apparel and Accessories; Sam Brito and
Tiffany Russel took first place in Sports and Entertainment; J.P. Parish took
second place in Advertising Campaign and third place in Marketing Management;
Ryan Sorenson took second place in Hospitality; Devin Ball and Chris Larsen
took second place in Sports and Entertainment and Josalyn Shaw took third place
in Restaurant and Food Management. Additionally, Brad Dyreng, Katrina Klosa,
Paul Dyreng, Casey Dyreng and Melissa Stephens all qualified for national
competition.
Advisors for the DEX Club
are Doug Dyreng and Ivo Peterson, both Snow College professors.
“Not only did all 13 of our
students qualify for nationals but Snow placed in all eight categories,” said
Peterson, “Snow College students won two and placed second in four of eight
categories. That’s significant because this competition included all of the
major Utah universities and colleges.”
Snow
College, founded in 1888, serves approximately 3,000 students at its Ephraim
campus. The college provides general education and applied technology programs
leading to Associate of Arts, Associate of Science, Associate of Applied
Science and Associate of Pre-Engineering degrees, and certificates of
completion in a number of occupational areas.
Once owned by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Snow
College became a state college in 1932.
