EPHRAIM, Utah—November 7, 2002—Snow College today announced a dual admission/intent to transfer program with Southern Utah University (SUU) and Utah State University (USU). The program was one of several announcements Michael T. Benson, president of Snow College, made at his investiture.
Snow students who enter the program are assured seamless transfer to SUU or USU and a maximum level of preparation for upper division coursework. Students in the program who complete Snow’s general education requirements will fulfill all of SUU’s and USU’s general education requirements. In addition, all college-level lower-division courses will be accepted as elective credit. Academic departments at SUU and USU will determine whether or not lower-division coursework at Snow meets major or minor requirements.
“For Snow to become the finest two-year transfer institution we need programs like these in place,” said Michael T. Benson, president of Snow College. “This partnership with SUU and USU provides cost-effective undergraduate education for students and is a model for collaborative approaches to facilitate student transfer.”
"To provide a wonderful transfer partnership between two high quality residential campuses is great for students,” said Steve Bennion, president of Southern Utah University. “Having served at both of these institutions has special meaning for me."
Student benefits include early face-to-face advising with faculty and advisors at SUU and USU; an efficient route to a degree; access to student activities, athletic events, campus cultural events, scholarship information and career services; and an efficient transition from a college to a university.
"Once a
student at Snow college articulates his/her intent to enroll at SUU, we are
prepared to treat them like our students with providing them access to our
advisors, student activities, athletic and campus events, and scholarship
information,” said Abe Harraf, provost of Southern Utah University.
The program will be in place for students attending Snow College in the fall of 2003.
