PETER PAN AND CAPTAIN HOOK SEEN DUELING IN THE ECCLE’S PERFORMING ARTS CENTER AT SNOW

EPHRAIM, Utah—September 29, 2003—Snow College today announced it will present Peter Pan in the new George S. and Dolores Doré Eccles Performing Arts Center October 7, 8, 9, 11 and 13, 14 and 15. Peter Pan is the first theatrical production in the Eccles Performing Arts Center located on Center Street between the library and football field on Snow’s Ephraim campus. Tickets are on sale for $7 (adults) and $6.50 (seniors and children) and may be purchased at the theatre box office or by calling Barbara Justesen at (435) 283-7411. Snow College students are admitted free with their activity card.

Written by Sir James M. Barrie, Peter Pan was first produced on Broadway with Mary Martin and more recently became a major hit with Cathy Rigby starring as Peter Pan. The production features the charm of Peter, Tinker Bell and the children, and the pirates and Indians of Never Never Land all embellished with show stopping songs.

Snow’s production features a large cast of students and a number of children from Sanpete County. A young woman often performs the role of Peter Pan and Snow’s production follows suit. Holly Harris will play Pan and Scott Bahlman will play Captain Hook. Emily Perkins, Christian Halling and Casey Lamb will play Wendy, John and Michael respectively. Chris Cook will play Hook’s sidekick Smee. Directing the show is Dr. Kim Christison, dean of Snow’s performing arts division.

Sir James M. Barrie

Sir James M. Barrie was born in Kirriemuir, Scotland in 1860. He began a career in journalism in 1883 but immediately began trying his hand at other writing. By 1889, he had a publishing success in A Window in Thrums. Barrie’s most famous work was Peter Pan. It debuted as a stage play in 1904 as Peter Pan, or The Boy Who Would Not Grow Up. The play is based on children in Barrie’s life and on Barrie himself.
