REPERTORY DANCE THEATRE TO PERFORM

AT THE ECCLES CENTER FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS

Company will Spend Two Days in Sanpete County

EPHRAIM, Utah—December 29, 2004—Snow College today announced that the Repertory Dance Theatre (RDT) will perform Thursday, January 13 at 7:30 p.m. in the Eccles Center for the Performing Arts. Tickets are $7 for the public and $5 for students and children under 12. Tickets may be purchased at the Eccles Center for the Performing Arts box office or by contacting Diana Spencer, dean of humanities at Snow College, at 283-7410.

Earlier in the day, members of RDT will conduct a lecture and demonstration for Snow students and interested Sanpete County residents at convocation. Snow Convocations are held every Thursday at 12:30 p.m. in Jorgensen Hall of the Eccles Center for the Performing Arts.

Elementary education students will also benefit from RDT’s visit to Sanpete County. On Friday, January 14, RDT will perform “D Is for Dance” at Ephraim Elementary.

“This is an opportunity for citizens of Central Utah to see some of the finest dancers in the Western United States,” said Dr. Spencer. “This will be a program all will enjoy but we particularly hope the many dancers – from elementary to college age – and their instructors will attend this event.”

Repertory Dance Theatre

Utah’s Repertory Dance Theatre is dedicated to the creation, performance, perpetuation and appreciation of modern dance. RDT was founded in 1966 by Virginia Tanner – a noted educator and children’s dance director at the time, and is the oldest and most successful company of its kind. RDT’s home is the Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center in Salt Lake City; but the company is committed to reaching audiences outside of metropolitan centers as well. RDT’s touring company has been seen in more than 300 cities throughout the U.S., Canada and Europe.

A performance in New York brought this remark from Clive Barnes of the New York Post: “A dance company all America should see.”
