SNOW SCHOLARSHIP DEADLINE APPROACHES

Auditions for Performing Arts Scholarships Announced

 

EPHRAIM, Utah—February 11, 2003—Snow College today announced it will accept scholarship applications through March 1, 2002. Academic, departmental, performing arts/special interest and athletic scholarships are available to high school students.  In addition, Snow offers more than 70 private scholarships from endowments designed to provide financial assistance to students.             High school students interested in a performing arts scholarship must audition and complete an application.

            Snow’s Horne School of Music invites vocalists and instrumentalists to auditions February 22 in the Music Building on Snow’s main campus from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Vocalists should bring a resume and prepare two contrasting pieces.  An accompanist will be provided. Instrumentalists should be prepared to play major, minor and chromatic scales, and two contrasting pieces. To schedule an audition time or for more information contact Dr. Mark Ammons at (435) 283-7466 or e-mail mark.ammons@snow.edu. If students cannot make it the 22nd they may make arrangements for another audition date and time by calling Dr. Ammons.

            Theatre performance and technical theatre scholarship auditions will also be held February 15th and 22nd. A welcome and orientation will begin at 10:00 a.m. in the Crane Theatre on Snow’s main campus. There is no need to schedule an interview in advance. Students should bring a portfolio and/or resume. Performers will be asked to audition with two contrasting pieces - each lasting no less than two minutes and no more than two minutes and 30 seconds for a total audition time of 4 to 5 minutes.             Snow’s art department welcomes high school students to attend the Art Scholarship Day Saturday, March 8 at the Springville Museum. The event is held in conjunction with the Springville High School Art Competition. Students are required to bring an art portfolio. Students must also set up an interview with a Snow faculty member by dialing the Springville Museum at (801) 489-2727. Snow College
