EPHRAIM, Utah—January 19, 2004—Snow College today announced that the Utah Shakespearean Festival will present a shortened version of “Twelfth Night” at the Eccles Center for Performing Arts at Snow College on Monday, January 26 at 7:00 p.m. Students with school identification or activity cards will be admitted at no charge. Adult admission is $5.
“Twelfth Night” is one of Shakespeare’s romantic comedies. It begins with the aftermath of a shipwreck that separates twins Viola and Sebastian near the coast of Illyria. Viola, thinking Sebastian has drowned, disguises herself as a young man in order to earn a living and protect her virtue. When she falls in love with the man she works for, her disguise prevents her from telling him.
To add to her
difficulties, her boss sends her as a go-between to the woman he loves, who
falls in love with Viola, thinking she's a man. The complications increase when Sebastian shows up and other
characters mistake him for Viola.
Earlier in the day the Shakespearean actors will perform for middle school students from both North and South Sanpete schools as part of the Utah Legislature's POPS program (Professional Organizations Performing in the Schools). The evening program is open to the public.
