UTAH SYMPHONY TO PERFORM

AT THE ECCLES CENTER FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS

Full Symphony Orchestra will Visit Jorgensen Hall for the First Time

EPHRAIM, Utah—November 4, 2004—Snow College today announced that the Utah Symphony will present a full orchestra performance on Thursday, December 9 at 7:30 p.m. in the Eccles Center for the Performing Arts. Tickets are $7 for the public and $5 for students and children under 12. Tickets may be purchased at the Eccles Center for the Performing Arts box office or by dialing 283-7478.

The symphony will perform a program including Mozart’s Symphony No. 30, Schoenberg’s Verklaerte Nacht, and Beethoven’s Violin Concerto featuring Ralph Matson as soloist.

“This marks the first time ever the Symphony – with an entire complement of members – has performed in Ephraim,” said Michael T. Benson, president of Snow College. “It is truly a historic event and a wonderful opportunity for the community.”

The concert was made possible through the efforts of President Michael Benson of Snow College, W. Glenn Lanham, Utah Symphony’s director of development, and Zions Bank—who contributed $5000 for the event.

Utah Symphony

The Utah Symphony was founded in 1940. Through the efforts of Maurice Abravanel, its music director from 1947-79, the orchestra became recognized as a leading ensemble. Now under the direction of Keith Lockhart, the symphony home is Maurice Abravanel Hall—acclaimed as one of the world’s great concert halls because of its architecture and extraordinary acoustics. The symphony travels all over the Intermountain West on a regular basis and performs more than 70 subscription concerts in Abravanel Hall.
