EPHRAIM, Utah—September 9, 2002—Snow College today announced that Dr. Veronica Ward, professor of political science at Utah State University, will speak at Snow convocation Thursday, September 12 at 12:30 p.m. in the Crane Theatre. Dr. Ward’s presentation, “Why Do They Hate Us,” promotes thoughtful consideration of the historical, ethical and cultural forces since September 11, 2001.
“My hope is that by trying to answer the question, why do they hate us?, Americans will come to better understand the links between American foreign policy and the feelings generated in others,” said Dr. Ward. “Understanding is crucial if we are to have any chance of changing what is becoming an increasing tide of anti-Americanism.”
Dr. Ward teaches classes on “Politics and War,” “Global Negotiations,” “Global Issues,” “Conflict Resolution” and “Introduction to International Politics.” She is currently engaged in a project with two colleagues that looks at how groups who are victims of repression can advance their cause without being labeled “terrorists.”
Dr. Ward earned a PhD in international politics from the University of Maryland, College Park and a bachelor’s in political science from Northeastern University.
Snow convocations
are open to public and free of charge.
