Stained Glass II Workshop
In 313 A.D., emperor Constantine permitted Christians to worship openly. Stained glass windows shifted from a domestic luxury for wealthy Romans to a highly regarded art form that filled places of worship with sunlit images of saints and deities. As artists learned to manipulate glass surfaces using methods like etching and hand painting, windows became more diversified in style and design. The result was more intricate and naturalistic figures, formalized foliages and borders.
This extended-training workshop offers participants the opportunity to work beyond assembling pigmented glass with copper foil or lead came by altering the artist properties of the media. Participants leave with a handmade project and an extended knowledge of working traditional stained glass.
Participants may bring projects for consultation.
