Timber Framing Workshop
Timber framing is an elegant yet simple building technique using large wooden posts and beams fit together with interlocking mortise and tenon joinery secured with wooden pegs. North America’s first European settlers used timber framing to build homes and barns. Today, timber frame structures are still energy-efficient and capable of withstanding harsh climates and the tests of time.
Enjoy the essence of that pioneer “barn raising” spirit as this traditional building method is revived. This hands-on workshop covers the history, philosophy, and traditional practices for the designing, manufacturing and construction of timber frame projects. Participants will be involved in a project from laying out timbers through frame raising.
