Scholarship Requirements

Notice: For ALL academic scholarships, including WUE and Nonresident Tuition Waiver, the following apply:

You will lose your scholarship if you fall below the required level for GPA and/or semester credit hours during any semester.
You will not be notified by the scholarship office at the end of each semester as to the continued status of your scholarship (this includes meeting scholarship requirements and renewal).
Requirements to maintain one of these scholarships DO NOT apply to any other scholarships that you may have received.
ALL of these scholarships require you to complete at least 15 semester hours of Snow College credit each semester (see your scholarship regarding contract credits that will NOT qualify).

The requirements to maintain and renew all academic scholarships are published below. The requirements for ALL scholarships are printed on the scholarship contract. The scholarship contract must be signed by the student before the scholarship is posted to the student's account.
It is the student's responsibility to know these requirements.

NOTE: Students with concurrent enrollment credit through Snow College, grades earned through these courses do count toward your cumulative GPA. Credits transferred in from other institutions do NOT count toward your cumulative GPA.

Scholastic Merit AND Academic Merit (one year awards)
To keep the scholarship from one semester to the next you must:

These two scholarships are NOT renewable. You must reapply for any second year awards by the April 1st deadline.

Academic Achievement (two year award)
To keep the scholarship from one semester to the next you must:

Scholarship Renewal for Academic Achievement
This scholarship will automatically renew for a second year provided the award was not lost during the first academic year, AND you attain a 3.75 cumulative GPA after 2 semesters.

Academic Excellence (two year award)
To keep the scholarship from one semester to the next you must:

Scholarship Renewal for Academic Excellence
This scholarship will automatically renew for a second year provided the award was not lost during the first academic year, AND you attain a 3.80 cumulative GPA after 2 semesters.

Sterling Scholar (two year award)
This scholarship has the exact same requirements as the Academic Excellence award above. This scholarship cannot be combined with any other academic scholarship.

Western Undergraduate Exchange (or WUE, one to four semesters)
To keep the scholarship from one semester to the next you must:

The Western Undergraduate Exchange scholarship will automatically renew for a second year provided the award was not lost during the first academic year. The WUE award is NOT deferrable.

Nonresident Tuition Waiver (one year award)
This scholarship has the same requirements as the Western Undergraduate Exchange, above, however; this is a one year award and the scholarship CANNOT be deferred.

This scholarship will automatically renew for a second year provided the GPA and credit requirements above are maintained.

Leadership Scholarships (one or two year awards)
To keep this scholarship from one semester to the next you must:

This scholarship will be renewed at the end of each semester by your advisor(s) at his or her discretion.

Other scholarships
Scholarship criteria for all other scholarships, including Athletics, Departmental, and Benefactor awards, are determined by the awarding entity. The minimum requirements as defined by the Snow College Scholarship Committee include:

Departmental scholarships are awarded to students who are planning to major in a specific area or have proven talent in the chosen field. While you may not be required to major in the area, you should plan to participate in the department if awarded.

Scholarship requirements are subject to change. You will be held to the criteria defined on your signed scholarship contract.
