How To Find Us

Look for this sign

From Ephraim's Main Street (Highway 89), turn east on 400 South then go to 300 East, where you'll make a right turn.

Follow the road south, then east around the curve to the mouth of the canyon, where the road is graveled.

Follow the graveled road for approximately 7 more miles; you'll find the GBEEC sign on the right-hand side of the road.

Our Facilities:

are listed on the National Register of Historic Sites

have received the Utah Heritage Foundation award for Excellence in Preservation

meet current building codes

assure safe drinking water (tested monthly by the Utah State Health Department)

offer modern conveniences: power, indoor plumbing, a fireplace in each building, living areas for after hours relaxation, a well stocked infirmary, a museum, and central heating

are ten miles from Mc Donald's and 75 miles from the nearest mall

share the habitat with Mule Deer, Snowshoe Hares, Marmots, pesky Raccoons, a plethora of Chipmunks, Squirrels, and some neat Neo-tropical Birds

Our Season
We open in mid-June and close up in September.

An adventurous few will make their way to the GBEEC in the winter.

The Rules (some of them):

No Smoking ~ The Utah Clean Air Act

No Alcohol or Illegal Drugs ~ Federal Drug & Alcohol-Free Workplace Regulations

No Pets ~ Great Basin Environmental Education Center Policy (protects native wildlife)

No Carving Names on Trees ~ Junking up the Environment Ethics

Other:

Service Projects -- We have plenty! Let us know if your group would like to do a service project.

Family Reunions -- Sorry, we can't help you there. However, you are welcome to register your family group for one of our workshops.

Food -- We can put you in touch with an excellent caterer, or you may prepare your own meals in one of our kitchens.

Telephones -- Cell phones work well at the Center; the land line doesn't. We will provide access to our cell phone if you have an emergency.

The GBEEC Store -- You may purchase film, toiletries, insect repellent, GBEEC Sweatshirts and T-shirts, souvenirs, goodies, and some of the basic items you may have left at home.

Beds -- We can house up to forty-two overnight guests. Lodging is "Dormitory" style. Bedding is not provided. (We do windows, but not laundry)
