Relationship Initiation To help you better understand the control you have over what relationships you form, this assignment requires you to introduce yourself to 2 people of the opposite sex with whom you have had no prior acquaintance. Initiation implies that you must make the first move. If a person speaks to you first, they, not you, have iniatiated the relationship. You are to type a 2 or more page paper explaining briefly how you initiated each relationship (1/2 page total) and then explaining in detail what insights you gained into yourself about how much influence you have in forming relationships; what things might be holding you back; and how you can take more effective control of your social life in the future (1 and 1/2 pages or more). Listening Dyad This dyad consists of two people listening to each other. You are to pick a partner from your class section (talk to the instructor about possible exceptions). Together you should spend 2 hours (not to be divided up into smaller segments of time) talking and listening to each other. Practice the skills learned in class to help you become a more efective commuicator. Type a 2 or more page paper explaining what you learned about your commuication skills. What do you do well? What do you need to improve upon? How can you work at improving those skills you need to sharpen? Note: The paper should NOT be a repor of what you talked about. That is between the two of you.
