The Student Life Program offers leaders, both elected and selected, numerous training opportunities before and during the regular school year. All student leaders are expected, and in some cases required, to attend these various training events.
Spring Training Retreat
This is a 3-day retreat typically held the Monday after Snow College commencement for all new and returning leaders. The objective of this event is to build unity among the various leadership teams and gain an understanding of the leadership goals for the coming school year. Check with the Student Life Office for specific times and dates.
Summer Training For SBOs and other student leaders
The state of Utah holds a summer training experience for all new student leaders of the various colleges and universities in Utah. Snow College executive officers, senators and team presidents, along with their advisors, are expected to attend. Check with the Student Life Office for specific times and dates.
Individual Team Training
The Executive Council, Senate, Ambassadors, Service Activity Council, Enrollment Team and Snow Mentors each hold their own individual training events sometime before and/or during the school year. These individual events are typically MANDATORY according to standards set by each team leadership. The objective is to learn team responsibilities, build team spirit and become dedicated to the goal of "Making a Difference" at Snow.
Mid-year Leadership Training
Each January, before spring semester begins, all student leaders come together for a mid-year training experience to "re-kindle" the Snow leadership spirit and renew unity among team members. Attendance at this event is usually mandatory or strongly encouraged.
ICC, Interclub Council
All team leaders, SBOs and club presidents are required to attend this Monday meeting, which is typically held at 12:30 in the Conference Center of the GSC (check for specifics). The meeting is conducted by the the Student VP for Leadership and the Director of Leadership and Service. It is meant to be a busincss meeting where the past week's activities are discussed and plans made for upcoming campus happenings.
GNST 107R or 108R:
In addition to the ICC Monday meeting, student leaders are encouraged to enrol in the Student Leadership and Life Principles class held each Monday and Wednesday from 12:30 p.m. to 1:20 p.m. in the Conference Rooms of the Greenwood Student Center. The Monday class is the ICC meeting with theWednesday class being a lecture on different topics of personal and group leadership.
