Snow College has developed its Mission & Roles Statement and Institutional Goals around creating a Vibrant Learning Environment, Attracting Students, Retaining Students, and Promoting Student Success through a Safe and Positive Learning Environment. Any conduct on campus or within the College Community that harms the individual, and/or groups of students, and/or the College reputation and may keep the College from achieving its Mission, Roles and Goals, will be dealt with through the Student Code of Conduct and Responsibilities.

College Community
For the purposes of this policy and administration of Snow College rules, the cities where Snow College and its campuses are located and adjacent to are referred to as the College Community. The functions of the college campuses and the cities where they are located are closely intertwined. On each campus, cultural, educational, entertainment, and athletic facilities are shared with the respective cities. Citizens and merchants in each community share their resources with the College in support of College activities. When classes are in session, college students constitute a significant portion of the population of each community.

Resident citizens and merchants have the right to expect that Snow students will act responsibly in the community, and that if they do not, Snow College will apply appropriate discipline to its students.

Violation of these standards of conduct within these cities (principally Ephraim and Richfield and adjacent communities) may adversely affect students, staff, and close neighbors of the College and also tarnish the reputation of the College, and impede the close working relationship between the College and the community. This is particularly the situation in private student housing and other places regularly frequented by students and staff of the College. Accordingly, each student of Snow College should expect the College to enforce its student conduct code with respect to any violation of this Student Code of Conduct within the College Community.

The purpose of this publication is to state the specific authority and responsibility of the College in maintaining social discipline, outline the process for appeal and establish the proper procedures to be followed to ensure “Due Process,” which protects accused students from unfair imposition of penalties and sanctions.

Snow College strives to develop and maintain an educational community which fosters the development of students who are ethically sensitive and socially responsible. The primary objective for the administration of discipline under Students’ Rights and Responsibilities is to develop ethically responsible students and protect the Campus Community.

The College has the responsibility and authority to devise procedures and regulations for orienting and assisting students and for controlling disruptions which would deter the College from furthering its mission. Therefore, students admitted to or enrolled at Snow College accept the obligation to conduct themselves in an appropriate manner according to the guidelines of Snow College’s policies. The College has primary interests with or in:

  1. Matters which impinge upon academic achievement and integrity.
  2. Conduct which breaches the peace, causes disorders, and/or substantially interferes with the rights of others. This includes frequent or repetitive behavior such as threats to others, threatening or attempting suicide, repeated unwelcome contacts in person, by telephone, through email, or through other means. A person’s repeatedly being in an emergency health situation which causes disruption to others or to College functions may also constitute violation of this provision.
  3. Behavior which threatens the physical or mental health or safety of members of the College Community, and one’s self.
  4. Protection of College property and the property of its community members from theft, damage, destruction, or misuse.
  5. Fulfillment of contractual agreements.
  6. Its obligations to support and be guided by the regulations of the College Board of Trustees, the Utah State Board of Regents, and the laws of the local, state, and federal government.

Students attending Snow College have the responsibility to adhere to the institution’s Student Code of Conduct and Responsibilities within the communities of Ephraim City, Richfield City, and immediately adjacent communities because Snow College is an integral part of these populated areas. If a current Snow College student is found to be in violation of these responsibilities in any surrounding communities he/she will be subject to disciplinary action by the college.
