Snow College Traditional Building Skills
Associate of Applied Science Degree Requirements
The Traditional Building Skills teaches the use of traditional building skills in new construction and in preserving and restoring historic buildings.
The three-day workshops combine hands-on instruction with methodology. Well-known craftsmen, dedicated to the traditional skills of the restoration trade, teach the courses.
The degree can be completed in as little as two years. Each student must do a research project (approximately 45 hours) for the completion of this degree. The TBSI director will monitor these projects.
This program is for students, homeowners, contractors, and trades-people including wood carvers, faux painters and furniture makers.
Students will be eligible for employment in the following occupations:
- Restoration building & remodeling
- Preservationist
- Architectural preservation designer
- City planner
- Trades: wood carving, faux painting, & Blacksmithing and others
