Catalog Description: Students who take this course will be involved in the Snow College Business Club and will affiliate with national business student organizations Phi Beta Lambda (FBLA-PBL) and/or Collegiate DECA. Students develop valuable leadership skills, build their resumes, meet business leaders in the community and beyond, learn professional presentation strategies, experience the rewards of community service, and enjoy optional unique travel opportunities -- all while networking with both peers and professionals. This course is repeatable for credit.

Justification: This course is required for the Associate of Science Business(ASB) degree and Certificate of Completion in Business. The course also provides engagement opportunities for any student, which is a Snow College core theme.


Student Learning Outcomes:
Students will be able to present an engaging leadership topic or case study to peers using pre-defined criteria of professionalism and best practices. Students will be assessed through oral presentations given to the instructor and peers.

Students will apply skills in business decision making and problem solving through competition case studies and leadership assignments. Students will be assessed on individual and team efforts through written assignments, reports, projects, and/or presentations.

Students will explore career opportunities in business by gaining exposure to a wide scope of business careers through guest speakers, field trips, involvement in state/national projects (e.g. service, fundraising), and choosing to prepare and participate in state/national competitions. Students will be assessed through written assignments, class discussions, and projects.

No textbook is required; any materials will be distributed by the instructor.


Pedagogy Statement:
Content will be delivered primarily by the students themselves, by guest speakers, through relevant video links and websites, and from the course's student leaders with guidance from the instructor. Emphasis is placed on real-world application and preparation for the competitive business world.
