Snow College Dance Ensemble provides students with the unique opportunity to experience dance in a professional setting. Our Dance Ensemble members are more than performers. They are also organizers, promoters, choreographers, sound engineers and costume designers. Our busy season includes several dance concerts at the Eccles Center for the Performing Arts, a concert of Student Choreography at the Granary Arts Center, a Snow You Think You Can Dance Fundraiser/Event, multiple performances and classes at the American College Dance Association Conference and ongoing outreach activities with local high schools including Wasatch Academy, Manti High School and Springville High School. As a result of this well-rounded education many of the former Dance Ensemble members successfully continue their dance paths as professional performers, choreographers and dance scholars.
The Snow Dance Ensemble is a two-semester commitment.
Each member is required to take both a ballet and modern dance class each semester, maintaining a B grade or better (2.7 GPA).
Dance Ensemble Class takes place on MWF from 2:30pm to 4:20pm and on TUTH from 2:00pm to 3:50pm.
When working with Guest Artists, Ensemble Members may be required to rehearse outside of regular class times.
This year alone, Dance Ensemble Members have worked with the following Guest Artists: Patty Meredith (Assistant Professor of Dance at SUU), Erik Stern (Professor of Dance at Weber State university), Trevor Willde (Wasatch Contemporary Dance Company/former Dance Ensemble member), Mary Neewey (Kinuko Modern Dance Company/former Dance Ensemble member), Carly Schaub (independent choreographer from Salt Lake) and Niurca Marquez (Contemporary Flamenco Artist from Miami)
