Snow College HSMPD

What: Music Lessons for all instruments and voice.

Who: Youth ages 6-18 years old and adult beginners.

When: Tuesday or Thursday evenings or Saturday mornings.

Where: Snow College Eccles Center for the Performing Arts

Fee: $120 for 11 lessons (discounts for additional family members). Fall Semester tuition is $120 and includes a 30 minute lesson each week for 11 weeks, a free notebook, and free admission to Snow College music concerts. Lessons are taught by qualified music majors at Snow College.

Mission

The Horne Youth Conservatory of Music is an educational arts organization aimed at developing and enriching the lives of music students in public schools and the community.  Its main mission is to adequately prepare music students for a smooth transition into college by offering educational arts training, professional clinics, academic development opportunities, as well as cultural activities, music concerts and theater productions provided free to its members.  

Statement of Philosophy

The HSMPD fosters academic and musical achievement through intensive arts instruction, educational programs, clinics, and free concerts, while also providing families with a reputable private lesson network.  Administered by the Snow College Music Faculty, and chosen collegiate student instructors, HSMPD provides an environment which nurtures student maturity by fostering intellectual growth, artistic advancement, ethical standards, and academic advancement through arts training and participation.

To provide quality private lesson instruction in the field of music
To prepare students for a smooth and successful transition into college
To educate students on documented research regarding "music instruction" and academic success it produces
To provide a learning environment that nurtures student growth, group participation and cooperation, and musical excellence
To foster skills which develop life long learning strategies and habits
To inspire and strengthen the concepts of beauty, compassion, reasoning, and abstract thinking through art exploration
To provide educational enrichment opportunities through free concert admissions, clinics and theater productions year round.
