Virtual Proctoring

Snow College has teamed up with ProctorU to offer students who do not live near the Ephraim or Richfield campuses a virtual online proctoring option for the Aleks PPL Exam. ProctorU is a live online proctoring service that allows you to take your exam from the comfort of your home. There is a $19 proctoring fee for each Aleks PPL exam attempt. ProctorU is available 24/7, however, you will need to schedule your proctoring session at least 72 hours in advance to avoid any on-demand scheduling fees. Creating a ProctorU account is simple.

Note:  Students need to pay for the ALEKs PPL Exam in Badger Web and complete the tools tutorial in Aleks prior to scheduling a test. If students have previously tested in Aleks, it is important to make sure the account is not inactive before scheduling an exam with an ProctorU.

Taking the Aleks PPL Exam using ProctorU

To use ProctorU, you will need a high-speed internet connection, a webcam (internal or external), a Windows or Apple operating system, and a government issued photo ID.  ProctorU recommends that you visit https://go.proctoru.com after creating your account to test out your equipment prior to your exam.  Simply click on the “Test My Equipment” button located at the top of the screen.  Please make sure that you are using the current version of your browser and have downloaded the ProctorU extension available here for Chrome and here for Firefox.

Additionally, please visit and review the test-taker resource center here.  You should expect the startup process with the proctor to take about 10-15 minutes.  However, this time will not affect your exam time.  Please feel free to direct any questions to the test taker support team via the live chat within your account.

To take the ALEKS Placement Test at home using ProctorU you must agree to the following:

  • Sit at a clean desk or table (not on a bed or couch).  Ensure your desk or table is cleared of all other materials.
  • Using a phone, calculator, or any other electronic device, other than your test-taking device, is not permitted.
  • No headphones, earbuds, smart watches, hats, etc. are permitted.
  • No outside assistance is allowed – you should find a quiet space to work alone.  No other persons except the test-taker should be in the room during the testing.
  • Remain visible in the web camera during the entire duration of the exam.  Leaving the room during the testing period is not permitted.
  • You are permitted to use 2 pieces of blank scratch paper and a pencil/pen.

Please view the Candidate Experience Video to see how ProctorU works.
