Alumni Spotlight Jamie Havell

1. What year did you graduate? 1999

2. Where are you currently employed? I stay at home with my kids. :)

3. What are your hobbies? Running, outdoors, honestly just spending time with family - and keeping up with them!

4. How did Snow College contribute to your accomplishments?

I arrived at Snow a few weeks early for one of the summer sessions before the regular semester began. I was 17 and didn't know anyone - I was so homesick! I remember my first professor that summer, Mr. Poulson, teaching us the Snow College ways, "Smile at everyone, 'warmest snow on earth', be kind, get involved - and you'll have a great experience!" I tried to follow his advice and it has carried over into life all these years later. Many of those basic lessons are what have helped me get involved in the community where we live now with PTA, kids sports, church activities, etc.

5. What is your most memorable moment at Snow College?

Oh, I wish I could list just one! There are so many memorable moments, I could fill pages! I think one of my most treasured experiences was representing the women on campus, AWS, on the executive council. I was blessed to learn from the examples of so many amazing students and leaders. There were fun activities and experiences but also opportunities to learn through leadership and trying to make the years good ones. I truly saw that a few people could invite more people and make a big difference - we'd decorate, advertise, and carry out so many activities - it was everyone working together.

6. What additional information would you like the alumni to know about you?

I graduated from Snow in 99, served an LDS Misison in the Portugal Lisbon North mission, returned and attended USU, married my husband Matt Havell (a 2000 Snow alumni), graduated from USU, and moved with my husband to San Antonio, Texas where he works for Wells Fargo. We have three great kids, who will all hopefully attend Snow College, Dallin (8), Clara (6), and Miles (4). Snow College was the beginning of my 'adult' life, I am grateful and blessed for the experiences, life lessons, and friends I met during those two years. Definitely the best starting place ever!
