EPHRAIM - Elder Jeffrey R. Holland will address Snow College graduates during commencement exercises set for May 1 on Snow’s Ephraim campus.

The commencement is scheduled for 10 a.m. in the Snow College Activity Center.

Holland serves as an Apostle for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and has a rich educational background, including time as the president of Brigham Young University.

“We are thrilled to have Elder Holland come down and speak to us,” said Snow College President Scott Wyatt. “Elder Holland volunteered and we jumped at the chance. His commitment to education is very well documented.”

Holland is a graduate of Dixie State College, Brigham Young University and Yale University. Not only did he serve as the ninth president of Brigham Young University, but served as the LDS church commissioner of education and dean of the College of Religious Education at BYU.

“We expect a much larger number of students attending commencement this year than normal,” said Wyatt. “I have heard students who were not planning on marching change their mind once they heard that Elder Holland was speaking.”

Snow College will graduate 578 students during the commencement exercises. The college has a record enrollment of 4,368 students between its Ephraim and Richfield campuses.

Each graduating student can request up to four commencement tickets by visiting the Noyes Building or calling 435-283-7000. At 9:30 a.m. May 1, any unused seats will be made available for the general public.
