Justification: Esports is a rapidly growing multibillion-dollar industry. Students selected as members of the intercollegiate esports team will learn game play strategy, gaming theory, promotion/marketing, management, and leadership development skills necessary to compete successfully in the collegiate esports arena.


Student Learning Outcomes:
Students will be able to demonstrate a fundamental understanding of gameplay and gaming theory.  Students will be assessed through coaching evaluations, self-evaluations, and peer evaluations.

Students will be able to demonstrate a basic understanding of the business of esports. Students will be assess by a combination of exams and/or group or individual presentations

Students will be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of team leadership, team management, and the ethics of the esports landscape.  Students will be assesed by a combination of individual/group presentations, coaching evaluations, self-evaluations, and/or peer evaluations.

Students will be able articulate the importance of nutrition, conditioning, and wellness for esports team members.  Students will be assess through a combination of exams, writing assignments, and/or group or individual presentations


Content:
Students will learn game play strategy, gaming theory, promotion/marketing, management, and leadership development skills. Emphasis will be placed on ethical individual and team conduct. The course will also provide instruction on nutrition, conditioning, and wellness for esports team members.
