Catalog Description: This course is designed for experienced golfers. The class covers strategy of the short game, putting, distance and club selection, etiquette, rules; and golf course management. Students will play 10 rounds of golf on Palisade golf course. This class is repeatable up to 2 times for credit. (Additional fee required)

Prerequisites: Golf l or permission of instructor

Justification: Physical activity is an important component of lifetime health and wellness. Physical activity can lead to positive physiological and psychological outcomes. Obesity, cardiovascular disease, Type-II diabetes, osteoporosis and cancer risk may be reduced with physical activity. Physical activity has been identified as an effective antidepressant and treatment for depression. This class will provide access to physical activity for students enrolled.


Student Learning Outcomes:
Students will be able to demonstrate the skills, fundamentals and rules of Golf. Students will be assessed through participation, skills observation and assessment of their knowledge of golf fundamentals and rules.

Students will be able to demonstrate the qualities associated with playing an individual sport including work ethic and attitude. Students will be assessed through in-class participation, observation and assessment of work ethic and attitude.

Students will be able to explain and discuss the use of physical techniques and training skills. Students will be assessed through in-class practice, oral quiz assessments on Golf techniques and training skills.


Content:
This course will cover all the fundamentals of golf, golf skills, and knowledge of the rules of golf. Physical Education disciplines and Snow College athletic teams value human diversity. This class will strive to represent that diversity in class materials and course content through examples, assignments, discussions, etc.,

In class practice & participation, skills observation & assessment 30 to 40%

In class practice, skills observation, assessment of work ethic & attitude 30 to 40%

In class practice & oral quiz assessments on techniques and skills 20 to 40%

Pedagogy Statement:
This class will be taught by lecture and lab which allows students to learn and practice Golf skills, as well as be assessed on knowledge of Golf rules. Golf skills will be accessible to people of varying forms of abilities. This course will promote inclusion by structuring assessment and teaching methods with the specific philosophy of valuing each participant's effort to improve, no matter the social category or demographic group they identify with.
