Plein Air Sketching in Watercolor

Join us for a workshop where we will navigate the delights and challenges of painting with watercolor in a variety of settings. Our journey will explore basic watercolor technique while we delve into the study of composition, value, vibrancy of color, and the principles of perspective. These concepts will be explored within the comfort of a studio as well as the invigorating environment outdoors. The art of plein air painting opens up a world often perceived as overwhelming due to the myriad of details we encounter, shifting light conditions, varying temperatures, wind, and even the presence of onlookers. As we immerse ourselves in the fresh air and the intrinsic beauty of the natural world, we will learn the art of simplification. We will also make choices such as whether to stand or sit during sessions, decide between bustling urban scenes or tranquil rural landscapes, and determine if the goal is to sketch or to create complete paintings. Throughout the workshop, we will explore various methods to maintain motivation and perseverance through periods of doubt and frustration. This workshop is open to participants at any level of experience.

Studio Fee: $75
