In this workshop, participants will learn how to draw a realistic portrait from a live model. Savannah will guide participants through the drawing process with demonstrations and critiques. The process begins with a linear “block in”, which aims for accurate proportions and shapes. After, we will move into modeling form through an understanding of the light source. Basic anatomy, materials, terminology, comparative measuring will be discussed. All levels welcome!

Biography

Savannah Tate Cuff (b. 1993) is originally from Cincinnati, Ohio. She graduated from Angel Academy of Art in Florence, Italy in 2014, and went on to complete the four-year program at Grand Central Atelier in New York City in 2018. Savannah has concentrated on figure painting and portraiture. She was an instructor for Grand Central Atelier’s part-time program and has taught many workshops around the world including Manifest Gallery (Cincinnati, OH), Glasgow Academy of Fine Art (Scotland), Snow College (Utah) & AARP (Portugal). In 2020, she received the Alma Shapiro Rome Prize to draw from classical sculpture and paint Old Master copies in museums in Rome. Savannah primarily paints private portrait commissions but also enjoys painting friends and family. She currently lives and works in Brooklyn, NY & enjoys running, hiking, underwater dive photography, bourbon, visiting her family in Kentucky, and playing with her fiercely friendly puppy, Inez.
