Catalog Description: This course provides supervised work experience at a sponsoring dealership or repair garage which applies directly to previous automotive courses. Proof of employment and approval by faculty supervisor is required.

Justification: This course allows students to further their training in Automotive Technology by obtaining actual work experience in the field.


Student Learning Outcomes:
Students will keep a weekly time log outlining the work performed each day. Students will be assessed by the completion of their weekly log book and supervisor evaluation.

Students will learn the necessity of attendance and punctuality for employment. Students will be assessed by the completion of their weekly log book and supervisor evaluation.

Students will learn skills related to efficient time management necessary for employment.  Students will be assessed by the completion of their weekly log book and supervisor evaluation.

Students will preform quality work at a level necessary for employment.  Students will be assessed by the completion of their weekly log book and supervisor evaluation.

Key Performance Indicators:
Students will be graded on the completion of their weekly time log and by an end of term evaluation form completed by their immediate supervisor.

Pedagogy Statement:
This course is a practicum/internship in which the student earns credit for their employment in an automotive repair shop. The students fill out a weekly time log which is periodically checked by the faculty supervisor. The student also has an immediate supervisor whom is employed by the repair facility and evaluates the students work.
