Course Description
The theory covered in this course focuses on the synthesis of the nursing knowledge and skills necessary for the registered nurse to prepare to take the national exam. The National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN), the test plan, test prep, clinical judgement, and computer adaptive testing are addressed. To enroll, a student must be accepted into the Registered Nursing program. (additional fee required)
Justification
This course is required for the registered nurse (RN) to be in the field of nursing and to give safe and competent care within the scope of practice of the RN. This course prepares students to apply for and pass the national licensing exam (NCLEX-RN).
Student Learning Outcomes
- Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to obtain the information needed to procure licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Utah.
- Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to identify the process and steps for preparing to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN).
- Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to identify key test taking strategies in preparation for the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN).
Course Content
Students will apply the knowledge and skills necessary to prepare them to pass the national exam. Course objectives will be providing learning experiences that emphasize the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN), NCLEX-RN test plan, applying to take the NCLEX-RN, clinical judgement, and NCLEX-RN preparation.
