Course Description

This course is for members of the intercollegiate esports team at Snow College. Team members will compete in online gaming against other colleges or universities and this course will support the goals of the esports program and provide relevant esports instruction. This course is repeatable up to 4 times for credit.

Justification

Esports is a rapidly growing multibillion-dollar industry. Students selected as members of the intercollegiate esports team will learn game play strategy, gaming theory, promotion/marketing, management, and leadership development skills necessary to compete successfully in the collegiate esports arena.

Student Learning Outcomes

  1. Students will be able to demonstrate a fundamental understanding of gameplay and gaming theory.
  2. Students will be able to demonstrate a basic understanding of the business of esports.
  3. Students will be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of team leadership, team management, and the ethics of the esports landscape.
  4. Students will be able articulate the importance of nutrition, conditioning, and wellness for esports team members.

Course Content

Students will learn game play strategy, gaming theory, promotion/marketing, management, and leadership development skills. Emphasis will be placed on ethical individual and team conduct. The course will also provide instruction on nutrition, conditioning, and wellness for esports team members.
