The Snow College Badgerettes are a precision dance team that focuses on jazz, hip-hop, and contemporary styles of dance. The team members are well-trained dancers that come from all over the state. The Badgerettes perform during halftimes as well as other school activities and community events.
The Badgerettes are under the direction of Karen Johnson.
Karen Johnson
Karen graduated Magna Cum Laude from Southern Utah University in 2002 with a bachelor’s
degree in Dance Performance. While attending SUU, Karen received training in ballet,
jazz, tap, modern, and ballroom. She performed in numerous faculty and student dance
concerts. She was involved in Orchesis and served as costume coordinator. As a member
of SUU’s Ballroom Formation Team, she had the opportunity of performing throughout
Utah, Nevada, and Alaska. She enriched her training with workshops in New York City,
at Arizona State University, and the University of Utah. Karen has been dancing and
performing since joining Sunshine Generation at the age of three. Her early training
came as a member of the Kosan Youth Ballet, where she was also a student teacher and
choreographer. She enjoyed participating in several BYU Summer Ballet Workshops.
She has taught in Sandy, Midvale, Mesquite, Manti, and most recently Cedar City.
She was an assistant director of Manti High School dance team and is excited to be
working with the Badgerettes now. Enhancing the lives of others though dance has
always been one of Karen’s goals, and she is excited to join the dance faculty at
Snow College.
