Four Badger Teams Earn National Preseason Recognition

The beginning of another school year signals the start of another season of competition for the Snow College athletic programs. Four teams will begin their seasons this weekend, including the volleyball team, the football team, and the men’s and women’s soccer teams. For the first time in school history, all four teams will begin the season earning national preseason recognition, including three teams who are ranked among the top-20 of their respective sports.

Despite losing eight players to graduation, and three players to missionary service, the Snow College volleyball team has been ranked No. 11 in the NJCAA Preseason Volleyball Poll. The preseason rank marks the highest in over 30 years.

After winning the Region 18 title last season, the women’s soccer team has been ranked No. 17 in the 2017 NJCAA Preseason Women’s Soccer Poll. While the men’s team did not make the top-20, they are listed among those teams who received votes.

Coming off a 6-4 season a year ago, and with a new head coach at the helm, the Snow College football team has been ranked No. 20 in the NJCAA Preseason Football Poll.

All four teams will be in action this weekend, beginning with women’s and men’s soccer teams. The Badgers will be playing at Westminster College in Salt Lake. The women’s contest will begin at 11 a.m., followed by the men’s game at 2:30 p.m.

The volleyball team will participate in a season-opening tournament at the Lifetime Activities Center in Salt Lake City. The Badgers will take on Lee College at 2 p.m. on Friday, followed by a 4 p.m. match against Casper College. On Saturday, the Badgers will take on Western Wyoming at 9 a.m.

The football team will host their first-ever night game, taking on Wasatch Revolution at 7 p.m. in Ephraim.
