EPHRAIM - Faculty from the Juilliard School of Music will be here Aug. 1-4 for the third annual Juilliard Jazz Faculty Goes to the Mountains Rhythm Section Workshop.
The Snow College Horne School of Music and Julliard School have partnered to put on the workshop, which brings together some of the country’s best musicians. Faculty and students from Julliard and Snow collaborate to put on the workshop, aimed at improving the skills of young jazz rhythm section players. Music educators also participate.
Juilliard faculty for the workshop will include Carl Allen and Ben Wolfe of the Juilliard School on drums and bass respectively, and acclaimed jazz pianist Benny Green. The Juilliard School will also be sending three graduate students to augment the faculty. Snow College Director of Jazz Studies Scott Wilson and guitar instructor Rich Dixon will complete the workshop faculty.
Snow College is the only two-year college in the nation which has a formal partnership with the Juilliard School, the most acclaimed performing arts school in the nation.
“I have given workshops all over the world and I must say that the Rhythm Section Workshop at Snow College is by far the most comprehensive that I have seen of its' kind," Juilliard faculty member Carl Allen said.
The event also features two concert put on by the faculty members and workshop participants.
