I grew up in Orem, UT from the age of 9, but have now lived in Ephraim longer than I ever was in Orem. Career-wise, I wanted to be an architect (I designed and drew the plans for the home I had built and moved into in 2017). Architecture was only a master’s program so I started with Civil Engineering in college, but at that young age, I was not ready for that first physics class and promptly changed my major and life to math education, since I was doing very well in the math courses (we don’t always end up where we first planned). I interviewed for a few teaching jobs and accepted the offer at Snow College to teach and run the math/science lab. And the rest is history...I’ve now been here 32 years and am in the top ten of employees who have been at Snow the longest (as of fall 2023).
As an always swinging single, I have 9 siblings, 52 nieces and nephews and 30 great-
nieces and nephews with 3 more on the way this fall (maybe more if they haven’t announced
yet)—again as of August 2023. I’ve had one brother and several nieces and nephews
live with me to come to Snow, others who’ve been at Snow but wanted the roommate life
(I held the record once with 7 other family members at the same time as Snow students).
One niece is living with me and working locally (she prefers the rural life) and another
niece is planning to come in a year for the Snow experience. On my own time I love
camping, traveling both statewide and internationally, gardening, reading (mysteries
and science fiction), making quilts and cooking the amazing food of the world.
