About

I was fortunate and had incredible teachers in my Jr. High math classes and fell in love with math early on. This pattern continued through High School when I decided to be a teacher. While getting my associates at Snow College and through my undergraduate and graduate degrees (both in Mathematics Education) at BYU, I continued to have phenomenal teachers. These teachers showed a passion for the content and really cared about who I was as a person/student/learner. They really taught me the importance of striving to be a lifelong learner.

One of my educational passions lies in teaching students how to explore and deeply understand connections in mathematics. Understanding topics like fractions might not seem like it can be exciting, but it can be! For me, understanding why basic math works makes all math so much more interesting. I also have a great deal of interest in helping others teach in a more connected and deeper manner.

One of my favorite things a student can do is ask a question that gets deeper into the mathematics. Another is having a student make a connection that I didn't anticipate.

I have a wonderful family that includes my husband and 3 kids. We enjoy camping, rockhounding, hiking, and going on road trips together. We hope to one day travel across the country with our truck, trailer, and our dog.
