Although I am currently a college professor, academics weren’t always something I excelled at. In fact, my first semester in college I ended up getting a D in my biology class! I learned that sleeping in class and bad study habits wouldn’t work in college. So, I adapted and improved. I ended up re-taking that class, learning how to succeed in college, and eventually getting a Bachelor of Science degree in Horticulture and a Master of Science degree in Range Science, both at USU. After graduation, I worked as a private contractor, traveling the Western United States improving wildland ecosystems and killing invasive weeds. Since 2012, I have worked at Snow College as the Director of Natural Resources and absolutely love my job. While I was in school, I learned that I really enjoyed interactive, hands-on learning. Luckily, because I teach natural resources, I get to incorporate a lot of hands-on learning into my classroom. That’s the beauty of a job in natural resources. I love introducing people to new and amazing things in the outdoors and seeing the spark in their eyes as they get to experience something for the first time. I also love helping students who don’t think they are “smart” or good at school to succeed in their schooling and future careers.
I currently live in Ephraim, UT with my wife and five kids. I love hunting, fishing, canyoneering, hobby farming, and chasing my kids around on all of their adventures.
