Janita Black 

1. What year did you graduate? 

1960

2. Where are you currently employed? 

I am retired after teaching part time at Ricks College (now BYU Idaho) and for 20 years as Madison

School District Elementary Music Coordinator.

3. What are your hobbies? 

My hobbies include teaching piano which I have done for over 50 years, reading, sewing, quilting,

hand work, traveling, & spending time with family.

4. How did Snow College contribute to your accomplishments? 

Snow had a great impact on my life as I came from a small High School and was able to be a big fish

in a small pool. It was my privilege to and was able to be a big fish in a small pool. It was my

privilege to serve as an AWS officer my first year and as First Vice President of the Student Body my

second year. Accompanying the musicals, Messiah, traveling with assemblies, playing in the dance

band, and being responsible for assemblies and devotionals were all opportunities for growth and

developing self-confidence and leadership skills. I felt love and respect from the administrators and

teachers and developed lifelong friendships.

5. What is your most memorable moment at Snow College? 

My whole experience at Snow was memorable. Too hard to pinpoint just one.

6. What additional information would you like alumni to know about you? 

My life continues to be full. My husband and I filled two full time church missions and were serving

a part time mission when he passed away two years ago. At present I have 7 living children and 27

grandchildren that keep me busy and happy.
