Careers

Discover a career that employs over 6 million people a year. There are more people employed in the outdoor industry than in education, construction, or finance. In the US, more people depend on trail sports (just one aspect of the outdoor industry) for a job than there are lawyers. During the recent economic downturn, the outdoor industry overall saw 5% growth. So the next time someone tells you that there are no jobs let alone no future in the outdoors - tell them to think again. The Outdoor Leadership and Entrepreneurship Program will help prepare you for one of the 6 million jobs in the outdoor industry. The following are just some of the potential employment opportunities, but your future is only limited by your imagination.

  • Adventure Business
  • Community Centers (YMCA, Boys and Girls Club etc.)
  • Travel Agencies
  • Ski Resorts
  • City, State and National Parks
  • U.S. Forest Service
  • Ecotourism
  • Recreation Guide
  • Outfitter Organizations
  • Camp Management
  • Youth Risk Programs
  • Hotel and Resort Recreation Management
  • Education
